Dangerous accusation against the PSG star sparked a fight in Argentina’s friendly with Honduras

ArgentinaHis friendly with Honduras threatened to boil over the following Saturday Lionel Messi was targeted with a dangerous shoulder attack by an opposing player.

Argentina won 3-0 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida – with PSG striker Messi unsurprisingly the star of the show.

But the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was lucky to avoid injury after being struck on the shoulder by Honduran midfielder Dabi Flores earlier in the match.

With Argentina already 1-0 up thanks to an early Lautaro Martinez goal, Messi took the ball in midfield and looked to launch another attack.

After being cleared by an opposing player, Messi briefly lost control of the ball – allowing Flores the opportunity to take possession.

As Flores reached the ball, he turned his back to Messi with his shoulder appearing to connect with the PSG striker’s head.

Messi collapsed to the floor holding his face while Flores ran away with the ball.

Argentina’s players were clearly incensed by Flores’ challenge, with several of Messi’s teammates immediately running to confront the Honduran.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo De Pol was the first to reach Flores and had to be held back by two Honduran players.

Several other Argentina players rushed to join the fray as American referee Rubiel Vazquez struggled to keep a lid on things.

Throughout the altercation, Messi was lying on the floor holding his face.

Flores was eventually pulled away from the Argentina players by goalkeeper Luis Lopez, his removal from the situation enough to calm him down.

Fortunately, Messi was able to get back to his feet, with Flores booked for the challenge.

Just five minutes later, Messi had made it 2-0 for Argentina – calmly slotting home a penalty after Giovanni Lo Celso fell in the area.
