Festival Of Light 2022 Pokemon Go Event Guide

They’ve brought back the Festival of Lights, this time with new features and bonuses.

Pokemon Go hosts several in-game events, many of which return to the game on an annual basis. One of these annual events is the Festival of Lighta fan favorite that will return with some new twists and features.

This year’s Light Festival will be held by Friday, October 14, 10 a.m. until Monday 17 October, 20:00 local time. There’s a lot going on with this event in the relatively short window it’s available, so we’ve put together everything you need to know to make the most of it.


Pokemon Debuts: Morelull And Shiinotic

This event will mark the the debut of Morelull and the evolution of ShiinoticGrass/Fairy dual type Pokemon introduced in Generation 7. You will need 50 Morelull Candy to evolve Morelull into Shiinotic, so be sure to log in to meet and catch this Pokemon.

Event bonus

During this event window, there will be many active bonuses that all players can enjoy. Each of these event bonuses are provided below.

  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Chinchou
  • 2x XP for catching Pokemon
  • 2x candy for catching Pokemon
  • The incense used during this event will last for two hours

Moreover, there will be event themed stickers for this year’s Light Festival. These can be obtained by spinning PokeStops, opening Gifts, or purchasing in the in-game store.

Incense meetings

During the event there will be Pokemon appear more often when you use Incense. Be sure to obtain and use this item to meet and catch the following event-themed Pokemon.

Wild Encounters

During this event, you will see a change to Pokemon commonly found in the wild. Adventure while logged into Pokemon Go to meet and catch the following Pokemon.

  • Elioptyl
  • Dedenne
  • Morelull
  • Togedemaru
  • Galarian Ponyta

Raids

The The Pokemon found in Raids will be different during this event. Team up with other Trainers to battle and defeat these specific Pokemon, which vary in difficulty depending on the level of the Raid. Each of these Pokemon can be found below, in addition to the Raid level they will be in.

Research

Time Survey

Will be Time Research available to all players during this event, focusing on catching Pokemon. Be sure to complete it during the event window to earn it Cosmetic Sparkler Pose.

Field Research Work Meetings

On completion Field Research Works with the reward of a Pokemon Encounter, you can expect to encounter specific event-themed Pokemon. Make sure you visit and spin PokeStops to get these Field Research Tasks, giving you a chance to meet the following Pokemon when they’re completed.
