Luxury hotels have always had a long relationship with art. In the The Dolder Grand In Zurich, for example, visitors can sleep under the same roof as a 36-foot-wide Andy Warhol, as well as individual pieces by Keith Haring, Takashi Murakami and Salvador Dali. While, in The Silo Hotel in South Africa, you don’t have to go far to immerse yourself in the world of art – the hotel, in fact, is located above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art (the largest museum of contemporary African art in the world). If that wasn’t enough, the hotel also has its own gallery – The Vault – featuring both emerging and established artists. Meanwhile, at Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà in Verona, Italy, you’ll find contemporary art from Marc Quinn, Damien Hurst, Anish Kapoor and Vanessa Beecroft. In short, the list of hotels with incredible art collections is long.
London, too, has plenty of hotels for art lovers – from rolling art exhibitions to 45 Park Lanea Dorchester Collection hotel, to Rosewood LondonIts rich selection of some of the world’s most famous artists, including Eduardo Hoffman, Simon Bingle and Peter Osborne.
Embracing this tradition, this month the city comes alive with art for all, in the form of Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2022 (the main exhibition takes place in Regent’s Park between 12-16 October 2022, although there is art on display across the city for longer) and it’s his turn Four Seasons London on Park Lane to pay tribute to the world of art. It has been named as the official partner of the hotel No. 9 Cork Street gallery – Frieze’s gallerybased on one of London’s most historic art streets.
Frieze is the world’s leading platform for modern and contemporary art for scholars, connoisseurs, collectors and the general public. In October 2021, Frieze launched No.9 Cork Street, a hub for visiting international galleries in the heart of Mayfair.
Ideal for art lovers to explore some of London’s best galleries and art collections, the Frieze exhibition space is on the hotel’s doorstep. The placement on Mayfair’s Cork Street has great historical significance: dating back to the early 20th century, the street has been home to some of the most profound movements in modern art. Today, the entire street remains dedicated to serving the artistic community.
To celebrate the partnership, the Four Seasons Hotel London on Park Lane will offer guests booking Specialty Suites complimentary tickets to the VIP days of the Fair. VIP tickets will give visitors exclusive access and entry to the Exhibitions during non-public hours for optimal viewing. In addition, the hotel bar has created a Frieze-inspired cocktail, crafted by mixologist Ivan Arena, called The Cork Street Cocktail.
As during Frieze, the Four Seasons partnership will offer hotel guests exclusive art viewing experiences throughout the year. These include access to private tours with No.9 Cork Street gallery director Selvi May Akyildiz and invitations to private viewing events throughout the year.
Four Seasons suite guests will also have access to private screenings at the Ulysses de Santi pop-up (Modern Brazilian Design, October 27). Various Small Fires, Ross-Sutton Gallery, OSL Contemporary (10 November) and Barakat Contemporary (1 December), taking place at No 9 Cork Street.
“We are thrilled to be working with Frieze – one of the world’s most renowned art authorities,” says Lynn Brutman, general manager of the Four Seasons Hotel London on Park Lane. “Art is such an integral part of our city’s history and culture, and we know this partnership will ensure Four Seasons guests have the best access to discovering London’s contemporary art scene.”
