If you’re experiencing problems with your iPhone, such as freezing or malfunctioning, resetting the device to factory settings may solve the problem. Alternatively, if you’re selling or giving away your iPhone, you’ll want to reset it so that all of your personal information is erased from the device.
Resetting your iPhone to its factory settings will return it to the basics: no contacts, playlists, pictures, password memory, or anything else you’ve added since the day you bought it.
However, before starting the process of restoring your iPhone, it is important to back up all your data so that you don’t lose your important information. After your iPhone is reset, you can then restore it with your backup.
