Kylian Mbappe could leave PSG just months after signing his new contract as he looks to leave the Parc des Princes in the January transfer window.
Fans were surprised when Mbappe decided to renew his contract with PSG last season after being so heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Things have not been good this season between Mbappe and his team-mates in the French capital, with a rift with Neymar leading to the players being separated, although the manager has dismissed claims of a rift.
It now appears that things between the World Cup winner and the club have completely broken down, with reports in Spain claiming he wants out.
According to Marca, the relationship between player and club has completely broken down and he has asked to leave when the January window opens.
The claim in the paper says the club were already open to letting him leave next summer without going back on his place to leave, but that has now been pushed back to early 2023.
The French club are willing to let him go at the first opportunity, however the big twist in the story is that they won’t let him go to Real.
Los Blancos have a poor relationship with the Parisiens following their previous attempts to sign the 23-year-old in the summer, but also the potential European Super League.
The Spanish giants’ president, Florentino Perez, was at the forefront of the breakaway competition, while PSG boss Nasser Al Khelaifi did not sign his club for it and is now president of the European Club Association.
With Real said not to be an option, the former Monaco striker may be out of options, with Liverpool reportedly one of the few places he could go.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been heavily linked with the striker in the past, although the German manager ruled it out due to the amount it would cost.
Signing Mbappe could be the Reds’ only chance of catching rivals Manchester City and current top-of-the-table Arsenal after a poor start to the season.
Erling Haaland’s City have made it even more difficult to get points and are already 13 points clear of the team who finished just one point behind them last season.
For his part, Mbappe is said to have realized that signing a new contract in Paris was a “mistake” and there are claims from COPE that he feels he is bowing to political pressure to continue at the club.
It now remains to be seen if any club can convince PSG to let him go in January, it is unlikely to be a cheap and easy deal.
