The Doom Mod replaces Doomguy with King of the Hill’s Hank

A new Doom mod is out that replaces Doomguy’s face with that of Hank Hill from the TV series King of the Hill.


Someone is working on a new mod for the original Fatein which the armored space marine known as Doomguy will be replaced by Hank Hill from the classic animated sitcom king of the hill. Given that id Software’s 1993 release is easily one of the most influential FPS games in history, helping to shape the genre nearly 30 years ago, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the iconic shooter is still finding its way. in the foreground. Anyone who has ever played the original versions knows that there is an almost endless array of mods Fate. As spotted by PCGamer, a user who goes by FreewayHere is in the middle of making his own mod for Fate which will have Hank Hill as the main protagonist. While the screenshots suggest that the gameplay will still be the same as the classic version, there are quite a few changes that have been made that bring it in line with Mike Judge’s show. For example, in addition to replacing Doomguy’s face with a pixelated version of Hank himself, it also looks like a lawnmower and barbecue grill will be added, perhaps as player-selectable weapons. The creator also swaps out the barrel graphics and replaces them with propane tanks, as well as creating his own levels. Currently, there is no release date for the mod.

king of the hill is one of the most beloved animated shows of a previous generation. Having run for more than 12 years, the series ended in 2009, though not before winning two Emmys, and was voted one of the greatest TV shows of all time by year magazine. It seems odd that the otherwise patriotic and soft-spoken Hank would take on a horde of demons, but it will be interesting to see the finished project.

With software id reportedly working on a new game, there is a possibility Fate could once again be the focus of the gaming industry, although it’s not yet clear what project the studio has in mind. With so many mods still being released after all these years, one realizes how important the original 1993 release was not only to the first person shooter genre, but to video games in general.
